About the Function

The main role of a Merchandiser is to build out a commercial collection that is reflective of the Creative Director's vision for the brand and the current seasonal collection, whilst building a product strategy to meet the business's financial targets for growth in product. A Merchandiser collaborates with Design, Sales, Finance, and Product Development teams to align strategy and safeguard product margins. This function demands both analytical capabilities and fashion product expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategise opportunities for new and underdeveloped product categories while maintaining brand DNA
  • Partner with Design to plan collection structure and identify core ranges and gaps
  • Advise on pricing and cost targets to achieve desired margins
  • Collaborate with marketing to ensure alignment between marketing and product strategy
  • Work with product development on fabric and garment costs for target price points
  • Conduct competitor analysis for market positioning
  • Ensure correct international pricing across markets and currencies
  • Analyse past collection performance to inform future collections
  • Review weekly/monthly sales data and recommend actions
  • Coordinate with retail and visual merchandising teams on brand alignment
  • Execute range planning, purchasing, and inventory management for retail outlets
