Story

Jamie Gill BArch ACA is an advisor and consultant in the Fashion, Luxury and Retail sectors. He is an Executive Board Member of the British Fashion Council (BFC) and Chair of the BFC Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Jamie is CEO turned Executive Director of Luxury Womenswear brand ROKSANDA. He founded The Outsiders Perspective as an immediate call to action to increase representation within Operational, Commercial and Marketing roles in Fashion & Luxury.

He studied his bachelor’s degree in architecture at Nottingham University and relocated to London in the thick of the financial recession working for several design practices. At that time the architecture and design industry were fighting to survive, and after much thought, he decided to take a career turn into Finance and joined Deloitte London. He worked in Consulting for 5 years, whilst studying his Chartered Accountancy, with a client portfolio spanning Luxury Goods to Real Estate. It was here where he witnessed LGBTQ+ Deloitte Partners leading international divisions, that he found the courage to come out as gay.

He then left the corporate world, to set-up a luxury apparel start-up targeted at the ever-growing Indian Bridal market, relocating to Mumbai, India. Designing, sampling, producing, selling, marketing, and fund-raising a new business was his real-life MBA.

Returning to London he joined an investment fund that focused on British Luxury Fashion, here he joined the board of ROKSANDA, before being made CEO in March 2018. During his tenure, he restructured the business, delivering several improved business metrics, as well as launching global collaborations with Lululemon, Barbour and Fila.

In September 2020, he joined the Executive Board of the British Fashion Council to support the fight against prejudice and discrimination in the industry, becoming Chair of the BFC’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee in May 2022.

Today, Gill is passionate about mentorship and championing emerging British brands on an international level. Whilst seeing diversity and inclusion as key to positive change for the future. He founded The Outsiders Perspective to bring change and equal opportunities to talented individuals from underrepresented communities, as well as advising international Fashion & Luxury clients on their growth strategies.
