The Outsiders Perspective is a not-for-profit accelerator platform for people of colour committed to increasing representation in the fashion, luxury and beauty industries.

The Programme provides accelerated insights into the luxury, fashion and beauty industries and offers the opportunity for networking and prospective employment with our growing list of brand partners.

The Programme collaborates with leading fashion and luxury houses including Chanel, Burberry, Lululemon, McQueen and Tiffany & Co. Brands who contribute to the workshops, supporting candidates with the knowledge and tools needed to transition into a career in the industry.

Areas of focus include sales, legal, marketing, merchandising, operations, technology, finance, strategy and HR, working with Industry leaders and partnering with leading brands who are looking for diverse talent to evolve their business.

Our Founder

Jamie Gill is a strategic advisor and consultant in the fashion, luxury and retail industries. He is Founder of The Outsiders Perspective (TOP) and an Executive Board Member of the British Fashion Council (BFC) where he focuses on representation in the fashion industry. He was formerly CEO of luxury womenswear brand ROKSANDA.

He founded The Outsiders Perspective as an immediate call to action to increase representation within operational roles in fashion, luxury and beauty. In September 2020, he joined the Executive Board of the BFC to support the fight against prejudice and discrimination in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. It was during this time that he considered his own career journey which became the inspiration for The Outsiders Perspective.

Jamie studied his bachelor’s degree in architecture at Nottingham University, relocating to London in the thick of the financial recession. At the time architecture and the design industry were fighting to survive, and he decided to take a career turn into finance joining Deloitte London. He worked in consulting for 5 years, whilst studying his Chartered Accountancy, with a broad client portfolio including his real passion, luxury goods. He then joined an investment fund that focused on British luxury fashion, and it was here he joined the board of ROKSANDA, before being made CEO in March 2018. During his tenure, he restructured the business, delivering several improved business metrics, as well as launching global collaborations with Lululemon, Barbour and Fila.

Reflecting on his career, Jamie realised it was his skills developed outside of luxury fashion, that propelled his career within the industry and The Outsiders Perspective is focused on enabling skilled professionals to transition, bringing fresh perspectives and innovation.
